Tampa Bay Camellia Society meeting, talk on Shade Gardening, 7 pm, at Farm Bureau Building, 100 S Mulrennan Rd, Valrico (on the southwest corner of St Rd 60 and Mulrennen Rd). Visitors are welcome. No admission charge.

Saturday, Spring Obsession in Lakeland, 9am to 4 pm, Munn Park, Downtown Lakeland, FL; It is bordered by Kentucky Ave, Tennessee Ave, Main St, and the railroad tracks. Talk at noon on Adjusting to Florida Gardening. Check: http://springobsession.org/ for details. This event is a celebration of garden, art and music. Some people just come with their lawn chair and listen to the live jazz band all day! No charge. Kids welcome.

April 24, Celebrate Earth Day

Learn More About Gardening, Florida-Friendly 101, Talks, demonstrations, tours of Teaching Garden, 10 am to 2 pm. Plant City Campus of Hillsborough Community Campus, 1200 North Park Road. Register by April 16th by calling 813-744-5519 ext. 109. Cost is $10 and includes morning refreshments. Monica Brandies will have books for sale and signing and gardening supplies will also be for sale.
