Willow LaMonte of Willow Herb Delight Nursery will speak at 9:15 on Herbs for Healing and Health, Kathy Oliver of My Mother's Garden Nursery at 10:15 on Container Gardening with Herbs and author Monica Brandies at 11:15 on Growing and Using Herbs in Florida. Visitors welcome. Tickets on sale at the community center starting Sept. 15 or on the day for $5 per person.
Herb Culinary Expo the same afternoon from 2 - 5 pm with tasting of all dishes and wine. Tickets for this are $20 and $25. There will also be a mini flower show and a silent auction.

Start watching the classified ads again for Pick Your Own It is fun, great exercise, and a good way to save money and eat better. You can bring your children along and teach them how their food grows. People have been coming for years from as far away as Naples and Orlando to pick muscadine grapes at the Robert Lee farm two miles north of I4 on McIntosh Road. Some pick as many as 50 to 60 pounds. Picking will start August 1 and the crop will continue until at least mid September. The place is open from 8 am until 6pm with a lunch break on weekdays from noon to 2:30pm, no lunch break on Saturdays and Sundays. Call 813-335-1865.

The Hillsborough County Solid Waste Management Departement, Hillsborough County Cooperative Extension, City of Tampa Recycling Program, and the Hillsborough County Fair is sponsoring a Recycled Yard Art Contest to be held at the Hillsborough County Fair from Wednesday, November 5th through Sunday, November 9, 2008.
This event is open to all County residents and all age groups. Entries must be created mostly with recycled or recyclable materials and should be able to withstand the elements for outdoor display. For contest rules, photo submission form, and entry form email the Extension Office or call 813-744-5519 x 105.
